When It Rains

Strange.  On the last day of 2008 and the first day of 2009, we had rains here in Cambodia.  Huh-ah.  Not a drizzle, not a sprinkle, but a downpour.  Typically, the rainy season begins in June and ends in early November.  But, with global warming, the season came in early last year and lasted much longer.
On one rainy afternoon, May 11th to be exact, I was alone at home.  (Husband was in our home country for an extended visit.)  The coolness of the early rains mingled with my aloneness and loneliness, and inspired me to write this poem:
sunny rainy afternoon
WHEN IT RAINS
by Allyn P. Japitana

When it rains I like to play,
Waddle or sprint on green grass and lay.

When it rains I like to dance,
Waltz with you, may I have this chance?

When it rains I like to sing,
Waken my neighbors with “Magic Sing”.

When it rains I like to stitch
Willows, whatever, I don’t care which.

When it rains I like to play Scrabble
With family or friends, we’ll avoid any squabble

When it rains I like to bake – a
Wacky chocolate or any cake;

When it rains, I like to eat – my
Wacky cake that’s not so sweet.

When it rains I like to write
Wholesome poems, is this one right?

When it rains I like to watch a weepie
While sipping a cup of freshly-brewed coffee

When it rains I like to look – at my
Wedding photos in a scrapbook

When it rains I like to think of you
Whisk out thoughts that make me blue

When it rains I like to sleep
With old songs to lull me, blissful thoughts I’ll keep.

Thanks lots, John. I hope to post more when I have the time to write and upload photos. I’m pretty busy these days.
Anyway, will you be singing at Graham’s wedding? Do you happen to have some accompaniment trax in MP3 or CD’s? Now, I’m back to my singing career:-) and I struggle with not having someone play for me. My minus ones are in cassette tapes and tape players are a thing of the past here. My guitar skills are not that good and I seem to do only 1 thing good at a time, musically.
